Introduction and Objectives

  • To create for students of University of Mumbai an additional avenue of self-employment and also benefit the industry by providing them with suitable trained persons.
  • To prepare students to exploit opportunities being newly created in the management profession field.
  • To provide adequate basic understanding of management education to the students.
  • To give adequate exposure to operational environment in the field of management
  • To inculcate training in the use of modern technology for the benefit of all parties concerned.
The University of Mumbai introduced the Bachelor of Management (BMS) programme in June 1999. An undergraduate Degree programme in Management studies, the BMS is spread over a period of 3 years or Six semesters, with each semester of approximately 5 months duration.
The BMS programme has shown great promise through its student centered approach, strong emphasis on teamwork and a culture that believes both faculty and student have much to learn from each other. Candidates receive a holistic education through industrial visits, guest lectures and teamwork.

The BMS course provides comprehensive management training to students by way of interaction, projects, presentations, industrial visits, practical training, job orientation and placements. It is a perfectly designed course for aspiring managers and budding CEOs of tomorrow.

Managers are synonymous with perfection. They are expected to do the right things at the right time and to see to it that others do it right. BMS is a course designed especially for students aiming to become managers

The students are molded perfectly to fit in with the requirements of an ideal manager who knows how to make correct decisions, delegate work and most importantly, to coordinate with the entire organization.


A candidate for being eligible for admission to the B.M.S. Degree Course shall have passed H.S.C. Examination of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination or Diploma in any Engineering branches with two years or three years duration after S.S.C. conducted by the Board of Technical Education, Maharashtra State or its equivalent examination by securing minimum 45% marks for general category (in one attempt) at the respective Examination and minimum 40% marks for the reserved category (in one attempt). No college shall conduct any entrance test in any form and the admissions are purely based on merit duly following the reservation policy as per the norms of Government of Maharashtra. While drawing the merit list, weightage has to be given to students from Arts, Commerce and Science Stream at 12th standard level.

Students from other boards of Universities seeking admission to any of the classes in Degree College will be considered for admission only on production of a Provisional Eligibility Certificate issued by the Registrar, University of Mumbai. Admission will not be granted without the said certificate, under any circumstances. Such student should submit a Migration. Certificate, Statement of Marks and Passing Certificate in original within two months from the date of admission failing which their admission is liable to be cancelled.

Student from other colleges affiliated to the University of Mumbai, who are seeking admission to Second and Third year of B.Com class will be admitted provisionally on production of ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the principal of the college last attended. Their admission will be conformed only on receipt of the transference Certificate (T.C.) from the previous college. For this purpose, they should submit an application from along with T.C. fee to the college at the time of admission.
